SCMUN 2025 on
"Empowerment"

Message from our Advisor

We live in a world of rapid changes. Changes in political regimes, economic changes, humanitarian crises. At this point, our world goes through an everyday constant change. Equality in opportunities concerning education and wellbeing are limited.

Through Model United Nations conferences, students have ample opportunities to debate about global issues and bring us a step closer to finding solutions on problems that concern all nations. Meeting people from all cultural background is key to understanding and respecting individual differences and thinking of how our context shapes who we are as people. Students have a great chance to critically think about global issues and develop further their research, planning, public speaking and debating skills.

St Catherine's Model United Nations conference is a two day conference which aims to bring students of all background together, unite them and allow them to embark on a journey to explore solutions concerning humanitarian, security, racial, educational, political and environmental issues. Let's try to make a world a better place for everyone.

Message from our Secretary General

Dear delegates, advisors and distinguished guests,

I am thrilled to welcome you to the 4th St.Catherine’s Model United Nations Conference which is set to take place in February of 2025! This year we come together under the compelling theme of “Empowerment” – a principle at the heart of the UN’s mission and a driving force behind global progress.

As we gather this February, we are reminded that empowerment is not just a concept, but a dynamic and transformative process. It is about providing individuals and communities with the tools, resources and opportunities they need to reach their full potential. Empowerment fosters resilience, spurs innovation and cultivates leadership qualities essential to tackle the world's complex challenges. In a rapidly changing global landscape, empowerment takes many forms. From promoting gender equality and ensuring access to quality education, to fostering economic inclusion and defending human rights, the scope of empowerment is both broad and deep. With every committee session, debate and resolution, that you participate in this conference represents a step towards a more inclusive, just and powerful world for all of us.

At St. Catherine's MUN, we are confident that young leaders like you are at the forefront of this change, and this is why we believe that your participation in understanding and skilfully resolving today’s challenges is crucial; your enthusiasm, commitment and fresh perspectives are essential to pursue our agenda for this year’s conference – each and every one of your voice’s matter, regardless of the scale of your contribution; set the stage for a future where empowerment is a universal reality!

I encourage each of you to embrace a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect as we navigate the complexities of international diplomacy, using this opportunity to learn from each other, challenge our own opinions and beliefs, and grow as global citizens. The connections you make and the skills you develop through this conference will serve you well both within and outside the MUN community.

I look forward to witnessing the impactful discussions and innovative solutions that will emerge from this conference. Let us all work together to advance the cause of empowerment and strive to build a better and more equitable world for all.
